Initiative Order Calculator
Enter each combatant's name and initiative modifier, roll a d20 for everyone, and get a turn order sorted from highest to lowest.
Add everyone in the fight with their initiative bonus, then roll a d20 for each.
How it works
At the start of a fight in most tabletop RPGs, everyone rolls a d20 and adds their initiative modifier to decide who acts first. With a big party plus a handful of monsters, that's a lot of dice and a lot of scribbling on scratch paper before anyone even swings.
Add each combatant here with their initiative bonus — players, enemies, that surprise dragon — then roll once. Every entry gets its own d20 and the tool adds the modifier, so you see each result alongside the total that actually decides the order.
The list comes back sorted from highest to lowest, ready to read straight down. Ties break in favor of the higher modifier, so you rarely have to stop and rule on who really goes first. Add or remove combatants and reroll whenever a new fight starts.
Frequently asked questions
How does rolling initiative work?
Each combatant rolls a single d20 and adds their initiative modifier, usually their Dexterity modifier plus any bonuses. Highest total goes first, then you work down the list. This tool does all of that in one click.
How are ties handled?
When two totals match, the combatant with the higher initiative modifier is placed first, which mirrors a common house rule. If those tie too, they're ordered by name so the list stays stable.
Can I use it for the whole table at once?
Yes, that's the point. Add every player character and monster with their modifiers, roll a single time, and the full turn order appears sorted. Blank names are skipped, so you can leave spare rows lying around.
