How it works

Enter what you paid per coin, what you sold (or plan to sell) for, and how many coins you're holding. The calculator multiplies those out into a cost basis and gross proceeds, then subtracts one from the other to show your raw gain.

Fees eat into real trades, so there's an optional percentage that gets applied to both the buy and the sell side. If your exchange charges 0.2% each way, put in 0.2 and the profit figure drops to account for both trips.

ROI is just profit divided by what you put in, shown as a percentage — a quick way to compare a small win on a big bag against a big win on a small one. Buy one coin at $20,000, sell at $30,000 with no fees, and you'll see $10,000 profit at 50% ROI.

Frequently asked questions

Are the fees charged twice?

Yes. The percentage you enter is applied once when you buy and once when you sell, since most exchanges charge on both sides. Set it to zero if you only want the raw price difference.

What does ROI actually tell me?

It's your profit expressed as a share of your original cost. A 50% ROI means you made half of what you invested back on top of it, which makes trades of different sizes easy to compare.

Can this show a loss?

Absolutely. If your sell price is below your break-even point once fees are counted, the profit figure goes negative and is labelled as a loss, with a matching negative ROI.
