SERP Snippet Pixel Checker
Check whether your title and meta description fit before Google truncates them in the search results.
Your title should fit without getting cut off. Nice.
The description may be shortened. Google typically shows around 160 characters (~920 px), so put the hook up front.
How it works
Google doesn't cut off snippets at a fixed number of characters — it cuts them off at a pixel width. A wide title full of capital letters and 'm's runs out of room faster than a narrow one full of 'i's and 'l's, even at the same character count.
This tool estimates width by giving each character an average pixel value and adding them up. Titles start to truncate around 580 pixels, and meta descriptions around 920 pixels (roughly 160 characters). Type into the fields and watch the live preview and the width readouts respond.
Because it's an estimate, treat the warnings as guidance rather than gospel. If you're comfortably under the limit you're almost certainly safe; if you're right at the edge, shorten it or move the words that matter most to the front where they'll always show.
Frequently asked questions
Why measure pixels instead of characters?
Google renders snippets in a proportional font, so different letters take up different amounts of space. Counting characters alone can badly misjudge whether a title fits, which is why pixel width is the better measure.
What are the pixel limits?
Titles generally start truncating around 580 pixels and descriptions around 920 pixels, which works out to roughly 160 characters for a description. These shift over time and by device, so leave yourself a little buffer.
Will my exact title always show?
Not necessarily. Even a perfectly sized title can be rewritten by Google to better match a search, but keeping it within the width limits gives your intended wording the best chance of appearing intact.
