Win Percentage Calculator
Calculate a team's win percentage from wins and losses, optionally counting ties as half a win, shown as a percentage and a decimal.
How it works
Win percentage is just wins divided by games played. A team that goes 52–30 has played 82 games and won 52 of them, which comes out to about 63.4% — or .634 in the decimal form standings tables usually show.
Ties complicate things. Leagues that allow them, like the NFL, count a tie as half a win and half a loss. Flip the switch and we'll add half a win for each tie and include ties in the games-played total.
The result comes both ways: a percentage that reads naturally in conversation, and the three-decimal figure you'll see next to a team's name in the standings.
Frequently asked questions
How are ties handled?
By default ties are ignored and it's just wins over wins-plus-losses. Turn on the tie option and each tie counts as half a win, matching how leagues like the NFL calculate winning percentage.
Why show a decimal like .634?
Sports standings traditionally list winning percentage as a three-decimal number rather than a percent sign. It's the same value — .634 is simply 63.4% written the way box scores do.
Can I use this for any sport?
Yes. The math doesn't care whether it's basketball, hockey, or a pickup league. Enter wins, losses, and any ties, and you get the winning percentage the same way every time.
