Strikethrough Text Generator
Cross out your text with a strikethrough — or add a slash, underline, or overline — using Unicode combining marks that paste into places with no formatting buttons.
This works by adding a combining line over each character, so it pastes into places that don't normally allow formatting, like a tweet or a bio. A few apps render combining marks unevenly.
How it works
A combining mark is a special Unicode character that draws a line through, under, or over the character right before it. Add one after every letter and the whole phrase looks struck through, underlined, or crossed out.
Because the line is made of characters and not text styling, it survives a copy-paste into a tweet, a bio, or a chat message where the usual formatting tools don't exist.
Switch between strikethrough, a diagonal slash, an underline, or an overline, then copy the version you want. It's handy for showing a crossed-out old price next to a new one.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the line look uneven in some apps?
Combining marks are positioned by each app's text renderer, so spacing varies. Most modern apps draw a continuous line, but a few older ones leave small gaps between characters.
Will it work in an Instagram or Twitter bio?
Usually yes. These bios accept Unicode, and combining marks travel with the letters. The look can differ slightly between web and mobile, so it's worth a quick preview.
Can I strike through emoji or numbers too?
Yes. The mark is added after every character except line breaks, so numbers, symbols, and most emoji get the line as well — though it may sit oddly over a wide emoji.
