CPM Calculator
Calculate cost per thousand impressions from spend and impressions, or solve for any value.
Enter any two and the third fills itself in. Leave the field you want to solve for empty.
How it works
CPM is the cost to show your ad a thousand times, the standard currency of awareness advertising. It equals spend divided by impressions, multiplied by a thousand.
It is most useful when the goal is reach rather than immediate clicks — brand campaigns, video views, display buys. A low CPM means you are getting eyeballs cheaply.
Give the tool any two of spend, impressions, and CPM and it fills in the third, so you can price a campaign or check what a publisher is really charging.
Frequently asked questions
What does CPM stand for?
Cost per mille, where mille is Latin for thousand. It is the price of one thousand ad impressions.
How do I calculate CPM?
Divide total spend by impressions, then multiply by 1,000. Spending 500 dollars for 200,000 impressions gives a CPM of 2.50 dollars.
Is a lower CPM always better?
For raw reach, yes, but cheap impressions on the wrong audience are wasted. Weigh CPM against how well the placement reaches the people you want.
