Do I need to know my sensor size to use these?

What is a circle of confusion?
It's the largest blur spot that still reads as a sharp point in a normal-sized print. Bigger sensors tolerate a slightly larger circle, which is why the depth-of-field math changes with format.
Are the results exact?
They use the standard optical formulas photographers have relied on for decades. They're accurate enough to plan a shot, though real lenses, focus breathing, and diffraction can nudge the edges of what looks sharp.
