How it works
Everything converts through milliliters. A US cup is about 237 ml, a tablespoon is roughly 15 ml, and a teaspoon is close to 5 ml, so the calculator turns your amount into ml and then back out to the unit you want.
That's why the common shortcuts hold up: 3 teaspoons make a tablespoon, and 16 tablespoons make a cup. Handy when a recipe calls for a quarter cup and you'd rather count spoons.
These are US liquid measures. Metric and imperial cups differ slightly, so if you're working from a recipe written abroad, a little rounding is normal and won't hurt most dishes.

Are these US or metric measures?
These are US customary liquid measures. A metric cup is 250 ml and an imperial cup is about 284 ml, so expect small differences if your recipe comes from outside the US.
