Hashtag Counter
Drop in a caption and it pulls out every hashtag, counts them, and flags you if you've packed in more than a platform actually wants to see.
How it works
It scans your text for anything starting with # and tallies each one. Every unique tag gets listed back so you can spot duplicates or typos at a glance.
Pick a platform and it compares your count to the recommended max — 30 on Instagram, 20 on TikTok, and just a few on X and LinkedIn. Cross the line and you'll see a warning.
More tags isn't more reach past a point. A tight set of relevant hashtags usually beats stuffing thirty generic ones, and this keeps you honest. It all runs in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
How many hashtags should I actually use?
On Instagram, most creators land on 3–10 focused tags rather than the full 30. TikTok rewards a couple of specific ones. On X and LinkedIn, one or two is plenty — more tends to hurt readability.
Does it count duplicate hashtags?
The total counts every hashtag including repeats, since platforms count them that way too. The list below shows only unique tags so you can catch when you've accidentally used the same one twice.
What counts as a hashtag here?
Anything that starts with # followed by letters, numbers, or underscores. A lone # or a # with a space after it won't register, which matches how the platforms parse them.
